EXTRA! EXTRA! ! Read All About It ! Aside from gossip, rumor and idle information, the latter sometimes spread for purposes of mischief born of boredom, the PASADENA BEACON, our school newspaper, was a primary source of news for us regarding school related and, just occasionally, REAL news of interest. Admittedly, as was probably the case with most such "student media" in towns such as ours during the latter half of the 60's, it was in fact a "controlled" source that was subjected to certain levels of censorship that we students sometimes found both laughable and disturbing. But, like most else involved in our school experiences, was designed and existed as a "teaching and learning tool" which, while it did seek to keep us "informed", it also served to arouse the interests of certain students and it perhaps motivated a few of us toward future careers and participation in the various fields of journalism.
